Downtown Seattle II

Now aren't those some huge crabs and shrimps there? As what they say about seafood, the bigger, the tastier! Looking at the photos just made me hungry at this late hour and just so you know, you are not alone dear. Haha! These are some of the many huge seafood you can find at Pike Place Market. No wonder why so many people go there. If you want to know more about Pike Place Market and other stuff you can find there, read the first part of this post.

What's with this small, old, and crowdy place anyway? And why do I look so desperate on taking a photo with that background? But if you followed me on Instagram, you probably had an idea on what this is already but let me expand more on what I said there about this little place. Nowadays, coffee shops are almost everywhere and it has been a place for meetings, meet ups, gatherings, studying (like what I usually do), and even by just plainly relaxing yourself appreciating little things with a cup of coffee or some "me" time. Starbucks has no exception on how coffee shops serve a lot of people everyday. I remember when I was still in high school back then when I wasn't too conscious about having so much sugar in my body yet, a tall sized Java Chip Frapuccino paired with a cola flavored Chupa Chups lollipop was a favorite, while having chit chats with some of my classmates. I'm sure you guys do similar too but I'm pretty sure most of us didn't mind where or how Starbucks came from and grew as a huge coffeehouse chain. And that's part of my knowledgeable travel posts, I know I sound like I'm sponsored by Starbucks in this post but with all honesty, it isn't. Starbucks Coffee was founded on the exact place where I'm standing at the photos above, Pike Place Market, Seattle. Now who would've thought that this coffeehouse having 20, 891 stores in 62 countries, including 13, 279 in the US and has 206 branches in the Philippines today, had started in this tiny place in the small corner of a big city? And that little Starbucks has been there since March 30, 1971 which made me realize now that it has been there before I was born. I am beyond amazed and overwhelmed I got to see it for real. Doesn't knowing that makes you appreciate Starbucks Coffee more? People even don't care how much time they take waiting in line there, I guess the photos obviously tell. It's so cool!

This carousel just reminded me of my childhood days! Calling all the 90's kids!! Don't you miss riding this? Haha!

On the obvious note, it's really fall season. Look at those leaves that look like falling hair! lol!

If you were thinking these are melt frozen candle waxes, then I'll say you're wrong. This is another tourist destination in Seattle, the Market Theater Gum Wall and yes, everything you're seeing here are chewed gums. It is located under Pike Place Market, at the Post Alley. Apologies but I'm an OCD person, one reason I didn't stay closer to the wall when my mom took the photos. But doesn't it look colorful and gross at the same time? lol! I honestly felt sorry for this building. And the yuckiest fact? Parts of the walls are covered with gum several inches thick, 15 feet high for 50 feet. The tradition actually  began around 1993 when patrons of Unexpected Productions' Seattle Theatresports stuck gum to the wall and placed coins in the gum blobs.Theater workers scraped the gum away twice, but eventually gave up after market officials deemed the gum wall a tourist attraction around 1999. Some people create small works of art out of gum. This gum wall was also named one of the top five germiest tourist attractions in 2009.

An evening view of this lovely city! Isn't it bright and beautiful? And I really adore how they decorated their Christmas tree! If you're close to this place, it's really best if you see it personally.
